Vintage Fashion & True Love

Georgie Lee Pearce - Tuesday, January 10, 2012

For the first rubylovejoy blog it seems only appropriate to show you old photos of my relatives.  Back in the era when pretty much every young lady could sew her own dresses, you could dress up everyday whether you were going out to lunch or just to the grocery store, and all the young men were dashingly handsome and clean shaven.

My aunty June was a total beauty.  Whether in a bathing suit or her wedding dress.  Her sweet nature and gorgeous figure was on display without being provocative or giving away too much to the boys wandering eyes.

That is something that I love about the 30’s. They were classy dames and wore elegant clothing without showing too much skin.  There is something so sexy about a woman who can be covered up and still ooze femininity.

Aunty June and uncle Nev were true soul mates and love birds.  Ever since I can remember they have been in love and my uncle Nev was always singing old songs to her all day every day.  He passed away a few years and ago and June recently told me that not a day goes by she doesn’t think of him and miss him terribly.

Mum and dad on their wedding day.  They went to the court house with 2 witnesses and then threw a party at night, invited their friends over, ordered pizza, drank champagne and surprised everyone telling them they were married!

Mum and I when she brought me home from the hospital.

So, don’t forget to wait till you meet the man of your dreams, that is your true love and soul mate and everyday dress like a sexy dame!

Ruby Dog

Georgie Lee Pearce - Tuesday, January 10, 2012

As u know rubylovejoy is named after my super cute pooch ruby.  Often u will find her chillin’ in the store with me, meeting and greeting everyone who comes in.  Ruby has a bit of a fan club and is very popular around town.

She goes away for weekend sleepovers to friends houses and plays with their kids, rolls in mud puddles, frollicks in the rain and is always looking for a party.  Ruby is a love muffin and we cuddle all the time.  She adores kids and babies and whenever I open the door Ruby races across the yard to the 2 little ones nextdoor, for their afternoon tea party.  In the evening she will sit on the driveway and watch the world go by and look at the stars, never running away or being naughty.

Oh I love my ruby dog!  hopefully next time you come in she will be in store and you can meet her!

Korea

Georgie Lee Pearce - Tuesday, January 10, 2012

It dawned on me as I visited my friends Blythe and Amy in Seoul last year, that I am not only inspired by clothing but pretty much everything.  There is always such a party of unique happenings blending together around me when I'm outside in real life.  So, here are some pics of memories that amused and inspire me still.

Dog café where people who live in an apartment and cant own a dog can come and have a drink, play with and feed the café dogs!

Amazing public bathroom, bigger than my house, with my 2 very fashionable friends applying their color du jour.

Shopping at 2am ish.

The wholesale clothing district is only open at night from 9pm till 3am.  These bags are lined up on the pavements every night, filled with clothing orders,  ready to be shipped to boutiques all over the world.

Cutest coffee shop I've ever seen!

9am in the Seoul subway listening to a mariachi band from Mexico with a Korean woman singing in Spanish! What the???

Old rickity tea house where our table was a gold fish bowl. Inside they have about 20 real birds flying around you and perching on the branches as u drink and chat.

This sign basically translates to hurry up and do your business and get out cause the people waiting are busting to pee too!

And this button is in the toilet cubicle.  In case you need to do a poo you hit the button and it plays music so no one can hear you.  hahahahahaha, best invention ever!
